In a tragic news, a 12-year-old cricketer, who was visiting Sri Lanka to play an Under-17 tournament along with 19 others, lost his life after getting drowned in a swimming pool. The incident took place in Tuesday evening following which the boy was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to death.

According to PTI reports, the boy was in the swimming pool of a hotel in Pamunugama with four other members of the team when this happened. He was taken to the Pamunugama hospital nearby but he eventually succumbed to death.

The body was then taken to Ragama Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination as per reports, where the police are investigating the matter. Hailing from Gujarat, the 12-year-old was travelling the Emerald Isle to participate in a tournament.

It isn’t the first such kind of occurrence this year. Previously, Under-19 Indian cricket team fitness trainer, Rajesh Sawant’s body was found in a private hotel in Mumbai. His case came to light after he failed to report for the training session. Sawant’s case was suspected to be a cardiac arrest.
