After being threatened by sanctions from the BCCI for not accepting the Lodha committee reforms, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has decided to implement it at the earliest. The development has come after OCA conducted SGMs on Sunday, which saw a majority voting in favour of accepting the changes.

OCA will file an affidavit within two days at the Supreme Court stating their agreement to comply with the reforms put forward by the Supreme Court-appointed panel. It has also been decided that elections for the posts of various office bearers of OCA will be completed by the end of November.

“We are ready to conduct the elections. We will file an affidavit in the Supreme Court in a day or two stating that we abide by the recommendations of Lodha Committee. Then all the by-laws will be changed accordingly as per recommendations. So, I think the process will be over by November election,” Dhiren Palai, the OCA working committee chairman, told SportsCafe in an exclusive chat.

As per the norms put down by the Lodha panel, OCA's new executive committee will be formed after an election in November, and the association will also adhere to the changes in the number of members to be elected, appointing one vice-president instead of more than three, as was the case previously. There will also be just one joint secretary instead of two and the number of executive members will also be brought down.

Currently, only three Cricket associations - Vidarbha, Hyderabad, and Tripura - have accepted the recommendations fully and conducted the elections.

Earlier, in January 2017, former IPL chairman Ranjib Biswal and Asirbad Behera resigned from their position of OCA president and secretary respectively. Apart from them, 173 officials had stepped down as well after the Supreme Court dismissed BCCI president Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke for not abiding by the reforms suggested by the Lodha panel.
