Cricket Australia have announced Andrew Tye as the replacement for Pat Cummins for their upcoming T20I series against India which will start after ODI series. Cummins will skip the T20I series as the Australian selectors had decided to send him home in order to prepare for the 2017 Ashes.

Cricket Australia confirmed that T20 specialist Tye would replace Cummins for their upcoming T20 series against after announcing last week about the unavailability of Cummins for the T20 series.

Tye will join the Australian pace attack consisting of Nathan Coulter-Nile, Kane Richardson and uncapped left-armer Jason Behrendorff. Tye made his T20 debut against India on January 29, 2016, in Melbourne. The 30-year-old played 20 List A matches in which he has claimed 41 wickets and has the experience of playing in the IPL (Gujarat Lions) where he got a hat-trick against Rising Pune Supergiant.

The knuckle-ball specialist hasn’t played any international cricket after the IPL where he dislocated his shoulder after playing only six games for the Gujarat franchise. He faced a surgery to repair the joint which ended his hopes of playing for Gloucestershire in England's Natwest T20 Blast.

Australia will play three T20I against India in Ranchi, Guwahati, and Hyderabad on October 7, 10 and 13 respectively.
