Former Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev believes that Hardik Pandya has the talent and ability to become a great player in the future. Pandya, who was selected to give depth in the lower middle order, has proved himself but Kapil suggested playing down immediate expectations of the explosive batsman.
After the retirement of the legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev, India have been searching for a player who can contribute decisively with both the bat and the ball, a search that many say has finally come to fruition in light of Pandya's recent performances. Kapil, who played 225 ODIs for India, scoring 3783 runs and snagging 253 wickets, believes that Pandya has the potential to follow in his footsteps and become a great player.

In the ongoing series against Australia, Pandya has shown his talent with both bat and ball. His performance in the first two games won the belief of the team management that he can perform at number 4 and they gave him that chance in the third ODI. He played a brilliant knock of 78 runs in which five boundaries and four maximums were plundered. His latest performance caught the eye of and elicited praise from Kapil.
“Hardik Pandya is better than me. But he has to do a lot of hard work,” the 58-years-old concluded.
