Wonât be a part of the IPL even if I am invited, says Shahid Afridi
Shahid Afridi, who received a lot of criticism for his tweet on the J&K issue, has claimed that he is loyal to his country and will not be a part of the IPL even if he is invited in the near future. Afridi also went on to say that if he wasnât a cricketer he would have become a soldier for Pakistan.
Afridi came under severe criticism for his insensitive post on popular social media site Twitter where he went on to comment on the issue between Indo-Pakistan military forces in the Jammu and Kashmir border. Cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Sachin Tendulkar slammed the Pakistani legend for his remarks on the sensitive issue.Â
Now, Afridi has come out to say that he stands by what he said earlier and he did not care about all the people who were criticising his actions. Afridi also revealed that he would not participate in the Indian Premier League even if he is invited in the near future.
"I'm not worried about the response to my tweet from some. I believe I spoke the truth and I have the right to speak the truth. Even if they call me, I won't go to the IPL. My PSL (Pakistan Super League) is the biggest and there will be a time that it leaves the IPL behind. I am enjoying the PSL, I don't have any need for the IPL. I'm not interested in it and never was,"Â Afridi was quoted as saying by Pakpassion.net.
