Dehradun, which was supposed to host a three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan in June this year, is yet to get confirmation as BCB puts forth a request to BCCI on April 13 for moving the venue. The BCB preferably wants the BCCI to shift to matches to either Bangalore or Kolkata.

Afghanistan are set to play two bilateral series after the IPL in India. While they are slated to play a Test match for the first time in white jerseys against India from June 14, before that, Afghanistan Cricket Board would also host Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series, which was earlier planned to be played in UAE. However, after ACB's failure to arrange the same in the Emirates, the team chose India's Dehradun as the venue for the same.

As per the earlier agreement, team Bangladesh will be flying to West Indies to play a full series following the Afghanistan series and for which they requested BCCI to change the venue to Kolkata or Bangalore from Dehradun, so it can be fare enough for Bangladesh cricketers to travel right after the series.

Clarifying on the problem, BCB president Nazmul Hasan, said, “We told them (BCCI) to reconsider the venue location so that it is convenient for our players, as we will tour West Indies for a full tour after the Afghanistan series It would be better for players if the venue is convenient for travelling,Dehradun is fine but we are looking for a convenient venue and it would be better if the series can be held in Kolkata or Bangalore. Obviously, we are in talks and I am sure BCCI will help us in this matter."

The sudden rise of Afghanistan’s cricket is expected to pull crowds during their series in June, having some quality players in their rank. Back in 2015-16, BCCI had permitted the use of Shahid Vijay SIngh Pathik Sports complex in Noida as the home ground of Afghanistan showing its kindness for the betterment of Afghanistan cricket. It will be interesting to see whether the BCCI agrees to move the matches to reputed stadiums like Kolkata or Bangalore or decides to stay in Dehradun.
