Virat Kohli, who was recently included in TIME’s 100 most influential people list, thanked Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar for his touching words which the latter used to describe Kohli. Kohli was only of the two sports persons, who was outside of the United States of America, to be on the list.

Indian skipper and one of the most iconic personalities in the country at present, Virat Kohli has been somewhat of a trailblazer since he led the India U-19 colts to the ICC U-19 world cup title in 2008. Ten years down the line, Kohli’s fan following across the globe is second only to MS Dhoni amongst the Indian sporting fraternity.

And in a recent list, TIME's magazine has included the name of Delhi-born cricketer in a list of the 100 most influential persons across the world. And the magazine turned to none other than Sachin Tendulkar to write a few lines on Kohli to be published.

Kohli was only one of two sports personalities who were not American nationals to be included in the list. The Indian skipper took to Twitter to thank the batsman for his kind words in the magazine.

Earlier, world cup winner Tendulkar spoke about how Kohli was passionate ever since he was part of the U-19 team whom the latter captained the Indian colts to a world cup title.

"Today Virat Kohli is a household name and a champion in cricket. Even back then, his hunger for runs and consistency was remarkable, something that has become the hallmark of his game.

"Every sportsman knows what it’s like to have good spells and bad ones too. Virat took the criticism he faced during a disappointing West Indies series and returned home with a goal: to improve not only his technique but also his fitness level. He’s never looked back," Tendulkar wrote.

Tendulkar further wished Kohli best of luck for his future endeavours and hoped that the player could bring more laurels for India on the global stage.

"My father always told me that if I focused on what I was doing, over time, detractors would become followers. Virat seems to have a similar outlook when it comes to his game.

"I wish him all the best for his career ahead and am confident he will continue to bring pride and glory to India through cricket. Go Virat!", Tendulkar added.
