The Indian Cricket legend has gone all out in praise of Rohit Sharma and called him unstoppable when he is on top of his form. Rohit Sharma’s much awaited return to form helped Mumbai Indians, who would be hoping he remains in touch, win the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mumbai Indians registered their first win in IPL 2018, against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Next in line to face Mumbai Indians will Rajasthan Royals, who have lost some of their momentum they had, when they started their campaign. In his column for TOI, Sunil Gavaskar said that the match between MI and RR is going to be a very uncertain one.

“After four days of rest, savouring their first win of this year’s IPL, the Mumbai Indians will be raring to get on the field again. They will be playing the Rajasthan team which has lost some momentum it had at the start of the tournament. This ebb and flow of form and momentum is what makes the tournament such an interesting one. Nobody can be certain how the game is going to pan out on the day,” wrote the former Indian captain.

Gavaskar appreciated MI skipper’s return to form and regarded him as ‘unstoppable’ when he is on song. Gavaskar stated that with Lewis providing good starts to Mumbai, Rohit now needs to play the role of a finisher, which Mumbai have been missing.

“For Mumbai, Rohit Sharma's return to form meant they put up a near impossible score for the Bangalore boys to chase. With his incredible ability to hit the ball into the stands even as he looks to be merely caressing the ball, the Mumbai skipper is virtually unstoppable. There are few better sights in cricket than Rohit in full flow. Evin Lewis has given Mumbai Indians great starts and he needed someone to be the finisher for Mumbai and that's what Rohit will need to do now,” said Sunil Gavaskar.

Kieron Pollard hasn’t had the best of the IPLs so far. With him scoring just 33 runs in four games, Mumbai would be hoping he finds his form soon. Gavaskar suggested that Krunal Pandya could come up in the batting line-up, if Ishaan Kishan isn’t fit. He showed confidence in young Markande, while thought that Mustafizur Rahman doesn’t have the same threat that he had 2 years ago.

“Kieron Pollard is due for a big score as also the Pandya brothers. If Ishaan Kishan, who took a nasty blow on his face is not fit, then Krunal can come up the order. Mayank Markande tasted a bit of hammering in the previous game but came back well and he will again be the key bowler once the field restrictions are removed. Jasprit Bumrah too is getting his rhythm back but Mustafizir Rahman is not quite the bowler he was a couple of years back,” he said.

Watson’s blistering hundred helped Chennai grab a win in their adopted home - Pune. While in the other match, SRH, had to suffer from the ‘Gaylestorm’. Gayle scored 104 runs from just 63 balls, which incluced 11 massive sixes. Gavaskar felt that Rashid will bounce back stronger after Gayle hit him to all parts of the park, which is quite uncommon to see.

“CSK stormed back to winning ways with Watson’s hundred and they will be hoping to keep the rhythm going against the Sunrisers who stumbled to their first loss after ‘Gaylestorm’ hit them. Sunrisers will be hoping for Dhawan to be fit for he is the man in form and has been batting brilliantly. Rashid was hit by Gayle but he will come back stronger as he is a quick learner. Teams batting first are winning games and that will make the captains pick their teams accordingly,” he added.
