Nasser Hussain has issued a warning that India need to take necessary steps to lift themselves up from their current misery wherein they have lost two successive Test matches against England. He has also stated that England will be keen to give back in order to avenge the 4-0 whitewash of 2016.

India have started their Test series in the worst possible manner after losing two matches on the trot. And former English skipper, Nasser Hussain has stated that India need to buck up and make the necessary changes if they want to save themselves from any further embarrassment. He also mentioned that he did not expect the no. 1 Test ranked team to put up such a small show and disappoint their fans back home.

“India are no.1 in the world and it was meant to be a gun, tight series but at the moment it is men against the boys. Their curve is going in the wrong direction. England is arguably the best in the world in these conditions but the real eye has to be on India- they have to be wary of the wheels completely falling off,” Hussain said, reported PTI.

He also spoke about his analysis of the two matches that were played between India and England and mentioned where India went wrong and the steps that could have made their situations better.

“They were in the game for a long time last test (Edgbaston) but the back injury to Kohli is a concern, the fingers of R Ashwin took a blow, the rest of their batting line-up continues to fail and there are no practice games in between. They have to dig really deep, there are some really good cricketers in that dressing room and they have to come out fighting. I don't think it will be as tough as this- they can draw on the fact it's been hard as it can be- but Trent bridge does a bit. Anderson will be a threat, Broad got 8-15 there against Australia, these England players have fond memories, so it won't get that much easier,” Hussain said.

Hussain also spoke largely of his home team and mentioned that England were keen to give it back after the embarrassment that they faced after a 4-0 whitewash in 2016.

“This is payback time a little bit  for England after losing 4-0 in India and I don't see them letting up. I have seen that they are a hungry team. They won't rest on their laurels, they want to get better and better,” Hussain concluded.
