First Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman, then Upul Tharanga of Sri Lanka and against Adil Rashid in the previous Test, Jasprit Bumrah and no-balls have turned out to be a better love story than twilight. Bumrah was at it again as he got the better of Joe Root only to discover her bowled another no-ball.

Virat Kohli scoring brilliant centuries, Hardik Pandya’s on-field antics, Shikhar Dhawan’s trendy moustache, and Jasprit Bumrah’s continuous no-balls, some things just never change. The Indian pacer has bowled no-balls at crucial stages earlier in his career, the most iconic one being the no-ball bowled to Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final which India lost. The bowler was guilty of bowling a no-ball in the 2018 IPL as well for the Mumbai Indians, in the match against Rajasthan Royals, an over in which he gave 18 runs.

It doesn’t stop there. The Baroda-born bowler, who is a renowned death-over specialist in the limited-overs format, appeared to have dismissed England spinner Adil Rashid, who was caught by Virat Kohli, in the third Test at Trent Bridge. But replays showed that his leg was ahead of the line and Rashid remained on the crease as a result.

The latest instance of Bumrah and his no-ball antics came in today’s fourth Test match against the three lions at Southampton. Bumrah appeared to have caught England skipper - Joe Root off guard with a delivery that hit the batsman on the pads as England were struggling at 3-1. The umpire did not seem too interested, but Kohli opted for a review as he was confident that Bumrah had got the danger man.

But to his surprise and Bumrah’s amusement, the review immediately revealed that Bumrah had overstepped yet again which in turn meant that the English captain was safe from all danger. Instead, the English were given one run as a penalty for Bumrah’s no-ball.
