Mustafizur Rahman will not be a part of the next edition of the Indian Premier League after the Bangladesh Cricket Board have opted against handing the bowler a NOC to play abroad. Rahman had earlier revealed that he would be kept away from overseas T20 tournaments for a period of two years.

Bangladeshi pacer, Mustafizur Rahman, will not be part of the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League after having failed to secure an NOC from the Bangladesh Cricket Board in time. The board’s refusal to grant the bowler an NOC to participate in T20 tournaments away from home will force Rahman to skip the IPL next year.

The BCB have decided to opt against handing Rahman an NOC owing to fitness concerns ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup in 2019. He was informed by the board that he would not be allowed to go abroad and play T20 tournaments for upto two years in order to prevent injuries and preserve fitness for national duty.

The left-arm pacer was instrumental in Sunrisers Hyderabad's title-winning campaign in 2016 with 17 wickets in 16 games, but featured in just a single game the next year. Rahman was picked up by the Mumbai Indians franchise this season but only played seven matches before a hairline fracture to his toe ruled him out. However, Mustafizur nicknamed ‘The Fizz’ was one of the 10 players released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2019 IPL auction.

The nine Bangladesh players who will be part of the IPL auction this season are: Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Abu Hider, Liton Das and two-Test old Nayeem Hasan. Shakib Al Hasan will be the tenth Bangladeshi player to be granted an NOC following his retention by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
