Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the second Test match at Perth after he picked up a back injury during the course of the first Test in Adelaide. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin is suffering from an abdominal strain on the left side of his body and will be replaced by Ravindra Jadeja in the squad.

India registered a narrow 31-run win against Australia in the series opener at the Adelaide Cricket Ground last Monday to kick-start their campaign on a positive note in the Test series Down Under. They will look to build on that win in the second match at Perth as Virat Kohli & Co. will aim to double their lead against the hosts in search for their first series win on Australian soil.

However, the visitors will have to go onto the field without the services of batsman Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin as both have been ruled of the Perth Test with subsequent injuries. While Sharma jarred his back on the field in the first Test, Ashwin is struggling with an abdominal strain on his left side.

The duo will be replaced by the likes of all-rounders - Hanuma Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja - in the second game at Perth, which is slated to start on December 14. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw was not included in the matchday squad once again as he continues rehabilitation on the ankle injury suffered against Cricket Australia XI. Shaw will most likely be involved in the boxing day Test match on December 26.
