Sachin Tendulkar believes that Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will play a major role in India’s success in overseas conditions after the duo picked up 33 wickets in the ODI series against SA. Sachin has also added that the wrist spinners can add a lot of value even in unhelpful conditions.

India recorded their ninth consecutive ODI series victory with a 5-1 thrashing of SA in their own den. This was possible because of Virat Kohli’s brilliance along with the heroics of Kuldeep and Chahal. The spinning duo picked up 33 wickets in their quota of 103.1 overs at an average of 15.125 and that is well cheered by Tendulkar who believes that the duo will play a major role in India’s success in overseas conditions.

"I think those two bowlers - Chahal and Kuldeep - are going to be key factors. In fact, when Kuldeep made his debut and bowled the first few deliveries in Dharamsala, I posted a message saying that he has got a bright future and that is something which can help us go and perform well abroad," Tendulkar said at "The Huddle", a thought conclave, conducted by 'The Hindu' on Saturday.

“I firmly believed that the wrist spinners can add a lot of value as they are not dependent on the surface. It is about what you do in the air and you have varieties bowling leg-spinners as well as googlies. Of course, during our days, bowling doosras by off-spinners was common.

"When it comes to batting, we speak about the number of runs scored but we are also winning matches because during those middle overs where the two wrist spinners (Kuldeep and Chahal) are bowling which is obviously heart-warming because one did not get to see wrist spinners much a few months back."

Tendulkar has also said that India should take full advantage of the spinning duo to win as many matches as possible before the opposite teams find some solution to tackle them.

"I think they have been bowling well in tandem. I think it is fantastic because that is something which the rest of the world is yet to figure out how to play them. They (rival teams) are trying to figure out what are the right options to score runs against them. What is the right option to survive? What are the options to - how do we block and that kind of things. But before they figure out we should try and win as many matches," said the former Indian batsmen.

India will now play England and Australia later in the year and will travel to New Zealand before the World Cup next year. These three tours can be termed as perfect practice tours for the upcoming world cup next year.

On being asked whether India are the favorites to win the next World Cup. The Indian team has done well in the last few years and the preparation for World Cup 2019 started quite some time ago.Credit should be given to BCCI for setting up an infrastructure where the results are showing clearly on fitness and diet among other things. With more exposure to the newer things happening around the world, I think it is reflecting rather well."
