Indian cricket team set to play 30 ODIs in 2018 - 19

The BCCI have released the itinerary for the Indian menā€™s cricket team for the coming year, and the team is scheduled to play 30 ODIā€™s in a total of 63 international games. Indiaā€™s 2017-18 season will conclude with the Nidahas Tri-Nation T20 tournament in Sri Lanka, which also includes Bangladesh.

The Indian menā€™s team have endured a busy 2017-18 year, playing the likes of Australia, England, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Sri Lanka (home and away), and are currently in South Africa, getting ready for a three-match bilateral T20I series. The Men in Blue have managed to do a pretty impressive job all through 2017-18Ā asĀ the recent, historic ODI series win saw them become the first team since Australia in 2002 to clinch five ODI victories in a series against the mighty Proteas.

The BCCI have the 2019 ICC World Cup in their minds as the selection committee revealed the entire itinerary for the 2018-19 season that would build them up for the major tournament in June 2019 in England. India are scheduled to play 63 international matches, which include 30 One Day Internationals, 21 T20Is and 12 Test matches as per PTI.

Team India are set to play three T20Iā€™s against the host country, the first of which will be played today. The Tri-Nation T20 tournament labeled as the Nidahas Trophy to be played in Sri Lanka (with Bangladesh being the other team) will mark the end of their 2017-18 season. Following this, the boys will depart for the upcoming season of the IPL and later regroup a little before June for a two-match T20I series against minnows Ireland, which will be followed by a historic one-off Test encounter against Afghanistan in Bangalore to begin the 2018-19 schedule.

The highlight of the upcoming tours of will surely be Team India's tour of England which will begin in July and end in September. Kohli & Co are set to play five Tests, three ODIs and T20Is in England. Following the England tour, India will defend their Asia Cup title in September in India itself, although dates and venues are yet to be announced. A home series against West Indies in October & November, representing a short home season for India, will be followed by a mouth-wateringĀ long tour Down Under to round off 2018.

The visit to Australia will be followed by a limited overs series away against New Zealand and another limited overs series home against the Aussies in early 2019.
