IPL 2018 | Rajasthan Royals start three-day trial for upcoming season

Rajasthan Royals, who returned to the IPL after serving a two-year ban, have started a three-day camp for Indian cricketers at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai from Tuesday. In the camp, seven Indian youngsters are training under the guidance of Zubin Bharucha for a place in the Royals' squad.

Rajasthan Royals served a two-year ban after some of their playersā€™ alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the 2013 fixing scandal. However, after the completion of the ban, the franchise has returned to the fold to participate in the 11th edition of the IPL and they donā€™t want to leave any stone unturned for the same.

After managing to purchase a lot of youngsters at the auction last month, the franchise have started a three-day camp at the Cricket Club of India's Brabourne stadium in Mumbai. During the three days, the players will hone different aspects of their batting, bowling,Ā and fielding by playing practice matches among each other. Yesterday, which was also the first day of the camp, the likes of Aryaman Birla, Mahipal Lomror, S Midhun, and Jatin Saxena participated in the role specification camp.

One of the most senior players, Ajinkya Rahane, after returning from India's tour of South Africa, also visited the camp and had an engaging discussion session with the youngsters. During the same time, teamā€™s executive chairman Ranjit Barthakur discussed the plan with Rahane. After the completion of the camp on Thursday, 2008 Champions will be conducting three more camps in Jaipur and Mumbai.Ā 

"We promise to deliver great value and bring back the best excitement which the city missed in the last four years. This has been a lucky ground for us and hence we are hoping to have the best season of IPL in 2018," Rajeev Khanna, vice-president, Rajasthan Royals, said, reported PTI.

"Presently we are eagerly awaiting when the Rajasthan Cricket Association can hand over the stadium to us so that we can start with camps here. BCCI team has been visiting here to monitor the progress being made in the stadium.ā€
