MS Dhoni has made a name for himself due to his game finishing abilities, particularly ending the game with a six, cue the 2011 World Cup final. However, yesterday, he had the best seat in the house to see JP Duminy do the same, only this time by not even following the ball after it left his bat.
After India had put up an impressive 188/4 in the first innings, it looked like India, like they had in the ODI series, would wrap up the T20I series with a game to spare. However, that was not the case as Heinrich Klaasen took the bowlers to the cleaners bringing the run rate to a shade above eight runs an over. His, and David Miller's, however, dismissal gave India a ray of hope but when Dhoni failed to stump Duminy, the game was up. By taking 10 runs in the 18th over, Duminy had reduced the equation to a comfortable 16 off 12 balls but he was not done yet.
After Farhaan Behardien (3) and Jaydev Unadkat (1 wide) had combined to take 4 runs of the first two balls, Duminy found himself facing the Indian youngster knowing that two big hits would take his team through. After sending the third ball of the over for a huge six over
Unadkat bowled a length delivery right into the slot for the South African skipper who just swung his arms and saw the ball travel a huge distance into the stands. However, what made the shot even more exasperating was the fact that after hitting the ball, Duminy never actually looked up to see where the ball went and as soon as he heard the crowd erupt, so did he.
