The BCCI has recently passed on a 10-point advisory to all state units which contains updated rules and regulations that pertains to the hosting of T20 tournaments. The advisory is believed to be issued by the members in the Special General Meeting (SGM) that was held on June 22.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India recently conducted their Special General Meeting (SGM) on June 22, despite strong opposition from the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) led by Vinod Rai. Among a host of issues that were discussed during the meet, one of the topics that was a part of the agenda was a 10-point advisory to its affiliated state units for conducting T20 tournaments.

The BCCI then sent out the 10-point advisory to the respective associations and have made it compulsory for the respective units to respect the rules and regulations that have been passed on in case of domestic T20 competitions.

Amongst the 10-point advisory, the first one was for application for Approval which meant that each Staging Association was required to take approval from the BCCI prior to staging/hosting the Tournament every year. The rule stated that an application to stage the Tournament should be submitted at least Forty-Five (45) days prior to the start of the Tournament. The regulation also stated that the BCCI may accept or reject the application of the Staging Association in its absolute discretion and its decision o will be final and binding in this regard.

The second point spoke about the eligibility and participation of players in the respective domestic competitions. The participation of players was to be restricted to only those players who are registered with the organising Association and qualify to represent the said organising Association for the purpose of Domestic Tournaments.  For any avoidance of doubt, it is emphasised that players outside the territorial jurisdiction of the state unit are not eligible to participate in the Tournament and that players can represent only one state association in a particular cricket season.
