Enjoying your game at the face of an imminent defeat is a forte very few could afford and this Indian team definitely has it. India’s dressing room broke into cheers when Yuzvendra Chahal got his ODI career’s first boundary with a magnificent straight drive and raised his bat to the dressing room.

India endured one of their worst batting performances at Lord’s on Saturday and the spectacular batting failure made the Indian dressing room a place one wouldn’t want to be. However, amidst the gloom, Yuzvendra Chahal scored the first boundary of his international career, which was enough to make the team go ballistic.

After India got to a decent start with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan adding 49 runs to the board in nine overs, India lost their hold in the middle with Rohit, Shikhar and KL Rahul all returning to the pavillion for the next 11 runs. Though Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina added an odd 90 runs to the scoreboard, neither MS Dhoni nor Hardik Pandya could contribute.

Missing out on a great chance to seal the three-match ODI series, the Indian dressing room was surely devastated. But that didn’t stop them from breaking into laughter and applause when Yuzvendra Chahal dispatched David Willey’s full toss with a picture perfect traditional straight drive. Not only did it look stunning coming from someone who had never scored a boundary in his previous 24 ODIs, but a helpless Ben Stokes getting outpaced by the racing ball was the icing on the cake.

Chahal raised his bat in acknowledgement to the dressing room with the familiar grin on his face, which saw the smiling faces of Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni all clapping from the Lord’s balcony - a moment to cherish forever.
