After Asian Cricket Council’s stringent scheduling of India’s Asia Cup fixtures, where the Men in Blue are pitted against Pakistan a day after their qualifiers game, BCCI has now demanded a change in the schedule. BCCI also blamed the organizers of playing a ‘money-spinning’ game.

After the Indian government forced BCCI to host the Asia Cup out of the country at a neutral venue, where they won’t have to host Pakistan, the cricket board has now demanded that the much awaited India vs Pakistan get rescheduled due to very hectic schedule for the players.

The Asia Cup schedule was released yesterday, where it was announced that India would play a match against a qualifier side on September 18 and would play the very next day against arch-rivals Pakistan. India and Pakistan haven’t played a match outside ICC events for two years now, the last match coming in the 2016 Asia Cup, and BCCI made their intention of not hosting their archrivals at home very clear, which led to the prolonged scheduling of the Asia Cup.

Now, that the tournament is finally happening, CricketNext has reported that the BCCI has not been too pleased by the scheduling and doesn’t want to risk a bad result against Pakistan due to this reason.

“The scheduling is mindless. There appears to be zero application of mind,” a senior BCCI official said according to the CricketNext report.

“How can you accept a scenario where India plays a game today and tomorrow it will face its arch-rival Pakistan who will have a two-day period of rest? This is unacceptable and has to be revisited. Maybe for the organisers it is just a money-spinning game but for us it is important that there be equity in scheduling,” the official added.

Pakistan, on the other hand, would surely be in an advantageous position as they play their qualifier on September 16 and get two days of rest before taking on India in Dubai.
