Arjun Tendulkar’s selection in the Rahul Dravid coached U-19 team was welcomed in the social media with both criticism and adulation. While the cricket legend’s son faced allegations of nepotism, there were others who came to Arjun’s defence pointing towards his brilliant domestic form.

Primarily a left-arm seamer, Arjun has been a part of Mumbai’s Under-19 squad last year during the Cooch Behar Trophy, where he managed to take 19 wickets. The tall pacer has the ability to swing the ball late and could come up with crucial contributions in the lower-middle-order as well.

There hasn’t been a shred of doubt in Arjun’s talent and Atul Gaikwad, who was appointed by Sachin two years back to train his son, has also had high words of praise for the all-rounder.

The beginning of a new era!

Savage!

Truth bomb!

However, there would always be someone better than you at the grassroots level and in this case, Himachal Pradesh's Ayush Jamwal’s name has come up heavily, who managed to secure 50 wickets. However, BCCI has stated that Rahul Dravid had directions that the selectors would ignore players who have crossed 19 this year. Hence, 18-year-old Arjun looked to be a good match.

But, social media didn’t spare him and the age-old debate of nepotism came to the fore again.

Twitter is a funny place!
