India suffered massive injury blow in the form of strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah who has injured the thumb of his non-bowling hand and will miss T20Is against England. Bumrah was replaced by Umesh Yadav in the second T20I against Ireland and the RCB bowler is expected to start against England.

While many thought India’s decision to bench Bumrah alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the last T20I in Dublin was tactical move to rest the prime bowler, it has now been revealed that the Mumbai Indians bowler has split the webbing on his left hand, which has ruled him out of India’s three-match T20I series against England that is starting July 3.

It injury reportedly occurred when Bumrah was attempting to stop a ball on the run-up. Following the injury, Bumrah didn’t turn up for training and was dropped for the second match against Ireland. It has also been speculated that the pacer might miss the three-match ODI series too that would succeed the T20I series. However, that could be a precautionary measure by the management as they have the likes of Umesh Yadav, Siddharth Kaul, apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

The pacer has reportedly undergone a scan to his injured hand with the results yet to come. India are yet to announce his replacement with Mohammad Shami waiting back in India, who was dropped in the Afghanistan Test for failing the Yo-yo Test.
