Dwayne Bravo has stated that he is excited to be back in Chennai Super Kings and playing under MS Dhoni is a pretty special thing for any cricketer. He has also added that he is very happy for Windies’ qualification for the World Cup as their absence would be like FIFA World Cup without Italy.

The way CSK went about their strategy in the mega-auction, it was clear that they will be relying on their old formulas to get success in the league again. Apart from retaining MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja, the Chennai-based franchise also decided to stick with the likes of Faf du Plessis and Bravo, who were significant cogs in their wheel when they last played in the league. Bravo, who was one of the fan favourites at the Chepauk Stadium and was also CSK’s top wicket-taker twice in 2013 and 2015, is pretty excited for joining the side once again.

“Coming to back to Chennai is like a homecoming for me. We missed it in the last two years. I was really hoping and praying (during the auction) that I come back to Chennai. I'm thankful to the management for showing a lot of faith in me. I didn't play any cricket after the Big Bash and was resting. I wanted to ensure that I prepare myself mentally and physically so that I can come and give my best for the city and franchise. I know the people in Chennai suffered for the last two years (without CSK). We are happy that most of us are back. I'm looking forward to the tournament,” Bravo said during an event in Chennai, reported ToI.

The comeback means he will again be reunited with the likes of Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja. The trio, along with Bravo and Faf, is the fan favourite in the cricket-mad city and that makes Bravo all the happier.

“CSK is not just a cricket team, it's like a family. Apart from playing in the IPL, players actually keep in touch with each other. The management also keeps in touch with players. Most of my fan following is from India and mostly from Chennai. I can feel the love and appreciation from the fans. It's a special team. It is being led by the best captain in the world. To play under MS (Dhoni) is a special moment for any player. For me personally, CSK have done a lot. I just enjoy representing the yellow army,” Bravo said.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the Windies confirmed their spot in the 2019 World Cup after the controversial DLS rule handed them a five-run victory over Scotland in the World Cup qualifiers. The two-time World champions, who entered the Super Six of the competition with three wins in four matches, had to toil hard for their entry into the quadrennial event. And quite understandably, Bravo sounded happy for his team and also underlined his desire to play in the World Cup next year.

“First of all, congrats to the team and I'm happy for the guys. There is a Fifa World Cup (to be held this year) without Italy. So, these things are possible. No team or country is guaranteed of anything. But at the same time, I'm happy that West Indies have made it. It's a young team and I wish them all the best. I honestly believe they deserve to be there despite what's going on in West Indies cricket. I love to see West Indies compete amongst the best and we always do well in World Cups. Hopefully, I will play the World Cup as well,” he concluded.
