Virat Kohli, who is currently sidelined due to a neck injury which ended his hopes of a county stint, offered an update on his condition in a recent social media post. Kohli is set to lead the Indian team in the upcoming England tour to prepare for next year’s World Cup that will be held in England.

Indian captain Virat Kohli recently ended a long and rigorous season with his long-time franchise in the Indian Premier League on a disappointing note as Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to make it to the play-offs for a second time in a row. But the continuous pressure seemed to have taken a toll on Kohli as he suffered a neck injury towards the end of the tournament.

This injury meant that Kohli had to cancel his stint with English County cricket team Surrey that was set to begin after the conclusion of the IPL. However, the Indian skipper is leaving no stone unturned to achieve peak fitness before India can depart for England in July.

Kohli took to popular social media site Twitter where he shared his current injury status. In the video he said, "Hey guys, a lot of hard work is going on. The rehab is on and just doing what I can do best and what I am allowed to do at the moment. Hard work is the only way and hard work always pays off."

Initially, there was some confusion surrounding Kohli’s injury as a slip disk was also suspected but the BCCI set things straight in a press release.

"Team India Captain Mr. Virat Kohli suffered a neck injury while fielding during Match 51 of the VIVO IPL between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 17th May 2018 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Mr Kohli, who was scheduled to play for Surrey CCC in the month of June, has been ruled out from participating,” read the BCCI press release.

"This decision was taken following assessments by the BCCI Medical team, subsequent scans, and a specialist visit. The Team India captain will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team.”

"He will begin training and subsequently undergo a fitness test at the NCA in Bengaluru from June 15. The BCCI Medical Team is confident that Mr Kohli will regain full fitness ahead of India's upcoming tours to Ireland and England."
