Shahid Afridi replaces injured Eoin Morgan as captain of World XI
Eoin Morgan, who had been named the captain of the World XI, has pulled out due to a fractured finger and Shahid Afridi has replaced him as the captain of the side. All the proceeds from the game to be played on May 31st at Lord’s against Windies would be used to redevelop stadia in the Caribbean.
The International Cricket Council had decided to help West Indies with the redevelopment of stadia that were destroyed by a hurricane last year through a fundraiser match between the World XI and the Windies. Eoin Morgan was named as the captain of the World XI side for the match against West Indies on May 31st at the Lord’s. However, in the recent development, Morgan ruled himself out of the match due to a broken finger and ICC has named Shahid Afridi as the captain of the World XI.
