Yuzvendra Chahal enters top-10 ODI bowlers’ list in ICC rankings update

On the back of decent outings against the Windies, Yuzvendra Chahal has made the cut for the top-10 ODI bowlers’ list in the most recent ICC rankings update as revealed earlier yesterday. Shimron Hetmeyer and Shai Hope also made good strides on the ODI batsmen list after impressing in India.

Despite featuring in just three of the five one-dayers against the Windies in the 3-1 series victory, Indian wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal entered the elite group of top-10 ODI bowlers in the recent ICC rankings update. Chahal picked up five wickets in his three outings for India against Jason Holder & Co. in the recently concluded ODI series.

Meanwhile, seamer Jasprit Bumrah Jasprit Bumrah recorded a career-best rating point of 841, which is the best tally since SA all-rounder Shaun Pollock's 894 in 2008. Bumrah was also limited to playing just three ODIs but he emerged with a total of six wickets - four of which came in India's defeat in the third ODI. 

Amongst the batsmen, Rohit Sharma also achieved a personal best tally of 871 points, as he continued to mount pressure on Virat Kohli (899 points) who held number one spot. Windies’ duo of Shimron Hetmeyer and Shai Hope were the biggest performers as they jumped up 22 and 31 spots respectively to take up the 25th and 26th ranks. Hetmyer achieved an excellent series total of 259 runs at an average of 51.80, while Hope came close to the 21-year-old with 250 runs at 62.50.

In the ODI team rankings, England are top-ranked with 126 rating points while India are at the number two spot with 121 points this time around. The top two teams have established a considerable gap between trailers - New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Australia, that are separated by 12 points.
