Virender Sehwag has been of the opinion that if Virat Kohli and Co. manages to put up a good lead in the first innings, then they could win anywhere in the world. The former opening legend also warned India not to take Australia lightly despite the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner.

2018 was always going to be a test by fire for the invincible looking Indian team of 2017, and it panned out exactly as was predicted with the Men in Blue losing the Test series in South Africa, and the Test, as well as ODI, series in England. Australia is the only overseas tour remaining this year and Sehwag has advised the side to improve their batting in the first innings to churn any kind of result out of it.Ā

ā€œIā€™ve been saying this for last one year that they can win Test series in Australia, England,Ā and South Africa. They have to play really well. If they match first innings total with Australia and England, they have a chance to beat them,ā€ Sehwag told NDTV, reported HT.

It has also been a known fact that if India ever had a really good chance of winning down under, it is now with the mighty Australians missing Smith and Warner due to suspension following Sandpaper gate. However, Sehwag was quick to point out that the Kangaroos couldnā€™t be taken lightly as they would be ready for a fight no matter what.Ā

ā€œDoesnā€™t matter if they (Australia) donā€™t have good players like Steve Smith and David Warner. They are playing in their own backyard. These players who are coming and playing in Test cricket have already played first-class cricket there. Theyā€™ve scored a number of runs. They donā€™t have much experience if you talk about international matches but they will give a good fight to the Indian team,ā€ Sehwag further added.
