Former Indian players Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan have come to support of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli who is facing the ire of social media users for his controversial ā€˜leave Indiaā€™ comment. Kohli had recorded the comment at the release of his ā€˜Virat Kohli Official appā€™ on Monday.

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has found some much-needed support from his former teammates Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan as a recent comment from Kohli has drawn criticism from all quarters. In reply to a comment made by one of his official app users Virat had asked the person to leave the country if he prefers foreign batsmen to the Indian.

ā€œOkay, I donā€™t think you should live in India then...you should go and live somewhere else, no? Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I donā€™t mind you not liking me but I donā€™t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right,ā€ Kohli said in the video.

Sehwag toned down the matter stating that it was the media which has blown the comments made by Indian skipper out of proportion.

ā€œFans have the right to choose their favourite players and so do the players. Only the media blows up incidents like these and creates controversies,ā€ Sehwag said.

Whereas former Indian pace spearhead Zaheer Khan said that being a democratic country India provides everyone equal rights and that also included the Indian skipper and he has the right to speak his mind.

ā€œFans and Virat have equal freedom of speech. India is a democratic country and everybody has freedom of speech. Even the clarification Virat gave it came because he wanted to clearly state his feelings on the matter,ā€ Zaheer told AajTak.

After facing a lot of flak for his comments Kohli later clarified his intentions and also explained why he made such comments.

ā€œI guess trolling isnā€™t for me guys, Iā€™ll stick to getting trolled! I spoke about how ā€œthese Indiansā€ was mentioned in the comment and thatā€™s all. Iā€™m all for freedom of choice. Keep it light guys and enjoy the festive season. Love and peace to all,ā€ Kohli tweeted.
