Paras Dogra scored a well deserved 101 in the first innings against Meghalaya to put his side ahead in the tie as Puducherry ended the day with 269 on the board. In another match, Deepak Dhapola claimed 7 wickets at the cost of just 50 runs to restrict Manipur to just 137 in the first innings.

Puducherry vs Meghalaya

Brief Scores: Puducherry 269/7 (Paras Dogra 101, D Rohit 61*; Gurinder Singh 2/58, Lakhan Singh 2/69) vs Meghalaya.

Winning the toss, D Rohit opted to bat first at home against Meghalaya. The hosts did not get off to a very good start as Narayanan was dismissed for just 8 runs. Vikneshwaran Marimuthu and Paras Dogra, though combined to take the score to 79 before the former was run out for 27. Dogra, however, found support in the form of Rohit and the duo forged a century partnership to put the hosts in control. Dogra, though, departed soon after he raised his bat following his triple digit score but the incoming Abhishek Nayar ensured that the momentum was not lost. The Mumbai veteran scored a half century in his 100th first class match but could not add too much after that as he was dismissed by Dippu Sangma for 57. Even though Rohit held the fort at one end, following Nayar’s departure, Puducherry lost three wickets for as many runs and ended the day at 269/7.

Nagaland vs Sikkim

Brief Scores: Nagaland 179/10 (Rongsen Jonathan 86, Tahmeed Rahman 33; Ishwar Chaudhary 4/65, Bipul Sharma 3/46) lead Sikkim 120/5 (Milind Kumar 78, Asish Thapa 17; Pawan Suyal 5/34) by 59 runs.

While Puducherry asserted their dominance in the group, the same could not be said for Nagaland, who were asked to bat first after losing the toss. They got off to a horrible start, losing both their openers in the first over of the match. While KB Pawan and Rongsen Jonathan tried to reconstruct the innings, it was only the latter who proved to have the mettle on the day. However, while he kept adding to the score with his eventual 86, he looked on as wickets fell at the other end. Had it not been for Tahmeed Rahman (33) and Rachit Bhatia (22*) Nagaland would have struggled to reach an eventual score of 179. But the drama for the day was not done yet as Pawan Suyal came out all guns blazing and picked up two wickets in his first three overs to give his side some hope. He picked up another couple a few overs later to restrict Sikkim to just 30/4. However, Milind Kumar’s 78 appeared to have put Sikkim back on top before Suyal picked up another wicket with the last ball of the day to keep his side 59 runs ahead.

Uttarakhand vs Manipur

Brief Scores: Manipur 137/10 (Yashpal Singh 38, Prafullomani Singh 32; Deepak Dhapola 7/50, Sunny Kashyap 1/21) lead Uttarakhand 123/5 (Karn Veer Kaushal 45, Vineet Saxena 27; Bishworjit Konthoujam 3/41, Thokchom Kishan 1/31) by 14 runs.

If you thought Sayal’s performance was the best in the Plate group, you haven’t met Deepak Dhapola yet. After winning the toss Uttarakhand decided to have a go with the ball first and Dhapola repaid Rajat Bhatia’s faith by picking up two quick wickets to restrict Manipur to 15/2. However, skipper Yashpal Singh started putting up some fight but was struggling to find anyone to help him out as wickets continued to tumble at the other end. By the time the Manipur captain was dismissed by Dhapola, his sixth victim, Manipur were past the 100-run mark. Dhapola got one more under his belt before Manipur folded for a mere 137 in the first innings. In reply, Uttarakhand got off to a great start and had a 59-run partnership for the first opening wicket. Even though Karn Veer Kaushal was dismissed for a well made 45, they kept putting runs on the board to take the score into triple digits. But Manipur fought back in the last hour of the day as in a matter of 10 runs claimed 3 more wickets to ensure Uttarakhand ended the day with a score of 123/5.

Mizoram vs Arunachal Pradesh

Brief Scores:  Arunachal Pradesh 220/10 (Akhilesh Sahani 65, Kshitiz Sharma 49; Taruwar Kohli 3/62, Sinan Abdul Khadir 3/66) lead Mizoram 92/3 (Akhil Rajput 57, Lalhruaizela 22; Subhash Sharma 1/10, Kshitiz Sharma 1/20) by 128 runs.

Playing in Jorhat, Arunachal Pradesh won the toss and decided to wield the willow first. They got off to a decent start with the openers putting up a 39-run opening stand. However, Taruwar Kohli got rid of Samarth Seth on the fourth ball of the tenth over before claiming the scalp of Techi Tahin on the very next ball to put Arunachal in a spot of bother. Even though Techi Doria perished on the last ball of the 13th over, Kshitiz Sharma and Akhilesh Sahani forged a 96 run partnership before the former was dismissed for a well made 49. Seven overs later Sahani joined him in the dressing room after he holed out to K Vanlalruata off Sinan Khadir’s ball. Skipper Kamsha Yangfo contributed another 48 runs before Arunachal finally packed for 220. In response, Mizoram got off to a horror start losing their first wicket without a run on the board. Lalhruaizela and Akhil Rajput put together a handy 54 run stand before the former was sent packing for 22. The day eventually came to an end with Rajput falling after a deserving half century with the scorecard reading 92/3.
