The team management has picked three spinners and as many pacers in the 12-man team announced ahead of the first T20I against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. While all the selected batsmen are supposed to get a chance, either of Khaleel Ahmed or Yuzvendra Chahal may get rested from the final XI.

India have been a force to be reckoned with in the T20I format as they have won 11 of their past 12 T20Is, including eight from nine away from home. The only defeat that the team suffered was against England in Cardiff, but they went on to win the series 2-1. The second-ranked team in the world will get their Aussie tour underway by taking on the Aaron Finch-led team at the Gabba, a venue which has been starved off from hosting a Test match against India.

For the game, India announced a full-strength team for the match with three spinners and three pacers in the team and one among Yuzvendra Chahal and Khaleel Ahmed will be rested, depending on the pitch conditions and the team composition.

While Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will open the batting, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant will follow them. Although Pant has been designated as the keeper in the team-sheet, India may spring a surprise by throwing the gloves to Dinesh Karthik just the way they did in the Windies series.

Krunal Pandya, after his impressive performance at home series against the Windies, has been able to keep his place in the side and will be bowling in tandem with Kuldeep Yadav if the team decide to play Khaleel Ahmed instead of Chahal.

India squad : Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Khaleel Ahmed.
