Video | Pakistan take self-humiliation to new level as Azhar Ali is dismissed hilariously

It was just weeks back when Pakistan's poor performances against India in the Asia Cup had led to both the countries coming together to troll the national team. And Azhar Ali has just given them a brand new reason to continue doing it for ages after his carelessness leads to a frivolous run-out.

Pakistan were in a comfortable position and looked to be heading towards a win in the second Test against Australia as they began day three with increased optimism. While Mohammad Hafeez was dismissed early on in the innings, Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali put up a good partnership to steady the Pakistan innings. However, there was more action to follow as Pakistan increased their lead against Australia.

In the 53rd over being bowled by Peter Siddle, Pakistan’s Ali appeared to strike the ball strategically in the gap between the slips in place. The ball raced away towards the boundary where there was no Australian personnel present. Ali, along with his teammate at the crease, thought that it was a certain boundary and hence did not bother to finish the run as they stopped for a chat in the middle of the crease.

But to the batsmen’s surprise, Mitchell Starc made a last-gasp run towards the boundary and collected the ball before it could clear the ropes. He immediately threw the ball to Australian captain, Tim Paine, who gleefully broke the stumps, to Ali’s utter disbelief. Pakistan coach, Mickey Arthur, was left shocked at the whole dismissal which was nothing short of comical.
