Vijay Hazare Trophy | 2018 Champions Mumbai still waiting to receive match fees from MCA
The players from this year's Vijay Hazare Trophy winners Mumbai are yet to receive their fees for the tournament as there is no signing authority to clear the payments. Also, two club members - Vilas Godbole and Khodadad Yazdegari will appeal the MCA to contribute towards the salary of the staff.
Mumbai put in a dominant display in the final of the 2018-19 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Delhi to emerge as the champions at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Mumbai lifted the trophy in what turned out to be a low-scoring affair amongst two top teams. However, as per reports from TOI, the 2018-19 champions are yet to receive their match fees for the tournament.Â
The current administrative dilemma at the MCA, which forced CoA to shift the fourth ODI between India and the West Indies on October 29 from the Wankhede Stadium to Brabourne, has had an ill-effect on the Mumbai team as well.
"In normal circumstances, we should've received our match fee after the completion of the league stage. We were told by our manager (Arman Mallick) that we've to raise our invoice for the match fee with the BCCI, which will pay us directly. However, we'll be denied our Dearness Allowance (Rs 1500 per day on tours) for now, because that is given to us by the MCA directly," a player told TOI sources.
The amount due in this case can rise up to Rs 50,000 per player. In addition to that, the players are also likely to be denied their share of the Rs 20 lakh prize money due to their triumph in the Vijay Hazare tournament for now as that is also normally routed through the state association. A domestic cricketer receives Rs 35,000 for each of the matches played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Mumbai played a total of 11 matches en route the final.
However, the problem doesn’t end there for the MCA as two club members of the MCA, Vilas Godbole (president of the United Cricketers club) and Khodadad Yazdegari (cricket secretary, Parsee Gymkhana) are slated to appeal to all the 330 club members of the MCA to contribute towards the salary of the staff of the association. The staff at the state association which included those working in the administrative office, the groundsmen at Wankhede, scorers, umpires and other match officials have not received their salary for the past two months.
"The United Cricketers and Parsee Gymkhana (cricket clubs) would like to propose the following proposal on the current situation of MCA. As we all are aware, due to non-availability of authority to sign payments, the salaries of the MCA staff haven't been paid for approximately (the last) two months.
