Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has stated that as a young player he should constantly aim towards improving and developing at every opportunity he gets. The wicket-keeper also said that he is delighted to know that the Indian chief selector wants to conduct a special keeping session for him.

After his maiden Test century in the second innings of the fifth Test against England at The Oval, Rishabh Pant has decided that he will sharpen his wicket-keeping skills at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). As India will be facing West Indies in a two-match Test series from October 4, Pant wants to be at his best, ahead of the series. Pant will most probably, involve himself in simulation training in Bengaluru to prepare himself for Tests in Rajkot and Hyderabad. Earlier the chairman of selectors MSK Prasad had said in an interview that they are working towards conducting a special keeping session for Pant.

“I am very happy that he wants to help me out with my keeping. As a youngster, it is my duty to keep learning and improve at every given opportunity. That should be my endeavour," Pant said on the sidelines of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, reported by cricbuzz.

“In India, the wickets are expected to be different from England or may be like the one at the Oval. I plan to visit NCA before the series and keep on tracks where there will be roughs."

Pant also mentioned that as he had kept wickets with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as bowlers, he has developed an idea of how to stand behind the stumps to a spinner. Further, he said that keeping in England was a difficult task, but he believes that it was all part of the game.

“I have kept up to senior spinners in the nets apart from the Tests in England. Like Oval strip, where Jaddu bhai (Ravindra Jadeja) was bowling, it felt like an India pitch. The ball was turning and on fourth and fifth day, there were spots. I can't debate or even reason with people whether I conceded those byes or not. It was part of the game," Pant said.
