Asia Cup | Shakib Al Hasan to miss the final against India

Bangladesh will miss the services of injured all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the final game of the ongoing Asia Cup which will be played against India in Dubai tomorrow. The senior Bangladeshi cricketer has aggravated his long-standing finger injury and as a result, flew back to Dhaka on Wednesday.

According to the information from Bangladesh Cricket Board, Hasan will be out of the game for four to six weeks. He didn’t play their last super four game against Pakistan which eventually Bangladesh won by 37 runs to qualify for the final. Hasan picked up seven wickets from four matches in the ongoing tournament and scored 49 runs with the bat.

“He will be out for four to six weeks. The pain had increased over the last few days and the physio [Thihan Chandramohan] tried his best to get him on the field, but the pain was too much. I would like to thank Shakib for playing [the first four matches] with the pain he had.” BCB’s operations chairman Akram Khan told reporters.

Hasan might undergo a surgery during this period which also implies that he will not be able to play against Zimbabwe in the home series which is scheduled to be played from September 30 to October 14.

“A decision regarding his operation will be taken once he reaches Dhaka. The problem is that his finger is getting sore and that is extremely difficult for someone to carry on and play,” Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud told Cricbuzz.
