Two Kings XI Punjab cricketers - Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Moises Henriques - have injured themselves on the same day. This comes as a reason for worry for the Mike Hesson-coached side as given their mid-placed position on the points table, they cannot afford to upset their combination.

Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques was all set to play his first match for Kings XI Punjab against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday but he injured himself during a fielding drill, minutes before the toss, forcing skipper Ravichandran Ashwin to bring in David Miller in his place. This is a major blow for the Punjab-based franchise because the 32-year-old is not part of his country’s World Cup side and was there to stay till the end of the tournament. The skipper had however stated in the post-match presentation ceremony that the all-rounder is fine.

The Kings suffered another setback in the same night as Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman had hurt his shoulder while fielding near the boundary rope and did not even return to bowl his fourth over. By the looks of it, the injury looked quite serious and even the skipper had conveyed that the extent of the injury is yet to be known.

However, the KXIP camp has issued a brief statement on the status of the injuries of the duo while stating that further results are still awaited.

“Moises went on to take a catch during warm ups and injured his ankle while Mujeeb picked up a shoulder injury during the match. Both are awaiting further results,” stated KXIP, reported PTI.

Henriques, who has been a part of the cash-rich league since 2009, has smashed 969 runs, and has taken 38 wickets in just 57 matches. On the other hand, Mujeeb Ur Rahman played a crucial role for KXIP in his debut season last year, having scalped 14 wickets in 11 matches but has played only four out of nine matches in this season so far.
