Alex Hales, who has a white ball contract with Nottinghamshire has seemingly missed the club's Royal London Cup opening match against Lancashire due to personal reasons. Hales, who has been named in the 15-man England squad for the upcoming World Cup, is a backup for frontline openers.

Hales has been an able opener for England in most of the ODIs having an overall 2,419 runs and maintaining an average of 37.8. Seeing a new lease of career, he made himself available for only white ball only contract with Nottinghamshire.

However, as the County started its 50-over campaign, the 30-year-old has missed the opening match against Lancashire. In order to address this issue, Nottinghamshire side has stated that the player has missed the selection process and no schedule has been given for his comeback.

"Alex Hales has made himself unavailable for selection for personal reasons and no timetable has been set for his return to action," Nottinghamshire stated in a press release, reported Cricbuzz.

The 6'5" framed batsman has been named in the England team for ICC World Cup 2019 and is expected to play as a backup for frontline openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow - or one of the middle order batsmen, in case any of them have a drop in form and got down due to injuries.

The English cricketers who has been selected for World Cup 2019 are expected to meet together at nets next week in order to train themselves for the series against Pakistan and Ireland preceding the Mega event at England.
