David Miller heaped praise on Kings XI Punjab openers KL Rahul and Chris Gayle who have been standout performers for the Punjab-based franchise in the ongoing season of the IPL. Miller further added that R Ashwin has been a great captain this season and prefers to lead by example on the field.

South African batsman David Miller has heaped praise on his Kings XI Punjab teammates - KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, who have looked in good touch in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. KXIPĀ are currently placed at fifth position on theĀ IPL table after having won fiveĀ out of 10 gamesĀ with a tally of 10 points.

Miller, who was part of the KXIP squad who made the IPL finals in 2012, reckons that the opening pair of Gayle and Rahul have been the stand-out performers in the 12th edition of the IPL. Rahul has scored a total of 399 runs while Gayle has a total of 421 runs this year.

"The boys are doing really well. Our main target is to make the play-offs. Chris (Gayle) and KL (Rahul) have put up really good performances so far. They have given the team decent starts in the tournament.

"Both have done immensely well for the team. When you have a good start, the rest of the job becomes easy. That's what Chris and KL have done for us so far. They are known to lay solid foundations. If they stick (around) for 7 to 8 overs, things become easy for the team," Miller told TOI in a recent interview.

In addition to that, Miller also spoke about the role of Ravichandran Ashwin as captain of the Punjab-based franchise. The South African cricketer claims that Ashwin is a leader who leads by example on the pitch and off it as well.

"He has been really good as captain. He leads from the front and by example. He thinks about the game a lot. He has played a lot of games for India and has abundance of experience with him .

"It will be really special. But we are focusing on one game at a time. Our main target is to make it to the play-offs. Once we reach the play-offs, we will try to reshuffle things and plan accordingly," Miller added.
