The Indian team’s manager Sunil Subramaniam may be in serious trouble with reports emerging that he may be recalled midway through the tour of West Indies for his incompetence. It is understood that neither the CoA nor the BCCI are happy with his conduct of the duties expected of him.

Sunil Subramaniam  is understood to have ruffled quite a few feathers. Sources in the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) have indicated that the administrative manager has been the subject of complaints on various tours – specifically, in Australia last year and in England recently.

The final straw of the committee’s patience ended when he failed to honour a request from the Indian diplomats in the West Indies. The Government of India had requested to have the players shoot for a save-water campaign. Officials of the high commissions in Guyana and Trinidad were to coordinate with the manager.

But despite a directive from the BCCI themselves, Subramaniam offered a lethargic response to the officials. Upon hearing this news, the CoA members, led by Vinod Rai, are understood to have contacted him and reprimanded him. As per reports on the Mumbai Mirror, it was later decided that he should be called back immediately.

Like other members of the Indian team support staff, Subramaniam too has been on an extension till the end of the West Indies series. The BCCI has already begun the process of revamping the coaching staff, while the fresh process of selection of the administrative manager will soon be advertised. Subramaniam is certain to be out of reckoning for the position.
