The Marylebone Cricket Club have named former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson as their Honourary Life Member. The decision to make Johnson as an Honourary Life Member was announced on Sunday, at Lord’s, during the second Ashes Test between Australia and England which ended in a draw.

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the overseer of the game’s laws, named former Australian quick Mitchell Johnson as one of their Honourary Life Members at the Home of Cricket on Sunday.

The Western Australian, who represented Australia in 73 Tests and 153 ODIs in his career, revealed that he was "blown away" by the decision, saying that he was honored by the announcement.

“It’s an absolutely amazing feeling and I never thought I’d be sitting here at Lord’s as an honorary life member. I am just blown me away,” Johnson was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

“It’s nice to be recognised by MCC. I am really honoured and really proud to be in this position right now,” he added.

Johnson was at the heart of Australia's famous 5-0 thrashing of England in the 2013/14 Ashes, where he claimed a total of 37 wickets to torment the English batsmen. The tearaway quick played 3 Tests at Lord's picking 10 wickets, but never got his name on the honour's board.

The MCC also took to Twitter to announce the induction of Johnson into the Honourary Life Member's club.

“MCC has today announced the election of former @CricketAus bowler, Mitchell Johnson, as an Honorary Life Member of the Club.” their Tweet read.
