While the umpiring flaws have been the flavour of the season so far - with Ashes leading the way - Kemar Roach was caught in embarrassing celebratory state because of Richard Kettlebrough. Today, even though it was clear that there was a big inside edge, Roach celebrated it in a jubilant manner.

In more ways than one, it was the day for Kemar Roach, who made everyone sit up and take notice of his transformation from a wayward pace bowler to one of the finest exponents of swing bowling in the current era. After inflicting damage on the Indian top-order upfront, Roach returned to wipe the tail, and he almost had Ravindra Jadeja in his kitty.

But as the saying goes, never celebrate anything hard enough that it would come back to haunt you later and Roach understood it the hard way. On the last delivery of the 61st over, Roach bowled an inswinger from round the wicket that caught Jadeja completely stunned, leaving his forward press in a state of dizzy. While Roach instantly went to the top of his lungs to appeal for the dismissal, it was easy to take sight of the fact that there were two sounds off the blade.

Richard Kettlebrough also ignored the sounds and raised his finger to acknowledge Roach’s effort and that propelled the latter to celebrate in the best way he can. After taking high-fives from each of his teammates, no one really cared to know what Jadeja’s views were. Meanwhile, the Indian all-rounder had gone upstairs, being quietly sure that he was not dismissed.

Third umpire Paul Reiffel, after checking the replay, found out on the UltraEdge that the ball had a thick inside edge that later deflected onto his front leg. The Australian asked the on-field umpire to reverse the decision - an eventuality that put Roach to shame.
