Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake wants to feature in the Indian Premier League after two years, with the Royal Challengers Bangalore being his favourite team, and has expressed his desire to play alongside Kohli and AB de Villiers. Blake is currently focused on the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

When your origin is deeply rooted in a country which has long-lasting history of producing world-class cricketers, you are bound to fall in love with the game. It seems like Yohan Blake, Jamaican sprinter is destined to have an affair with his “first love”, cricket.

Jamaica has produced the likes of Courtney Walsh, Michael Holding, Chris Gayle, Andre Russell who has been stalwarts of the game. Walsh is the leading wicket-taker in both ODIs and Tests and Gayle is the highest ODI run-scorer for West Indies. And it was of no surprise, that Blake in his young days was introduced to cricket in such a cricket fanatic country.

Blake, 29, is the second-fastest man in 100m and 200m and is currently aiming an eagles eye at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. In an interview to mid-day.com, the sprinter expressed his desire to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) once he is done with his finishes his career in track events. In 2011 he became the youngest sprinter to win gold in World Championship.

"I have two more years left in track and field and then its cricket for me. But, I do not wish to play for the West Indies. I would love to feature in franchise cricket; I would even love to own a franchise in India. And most importantly, play for either Kolkata Knight Riders or the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chris Gayle (fellow Jamaican) was there for a long time," the Jamaican said during the interview.

Blake, who won two silver medals in the 2012 London Olympics, said he loves the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise because of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

"I love the Bangalore team especially Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers," he added.

In 2012, after he rang the bell to signify the start of a Test between England and South Africa at Lords, he said that cricket was his “first love” and he always dreamt of playing for the West Indies team.
