AUS vs NZ | Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme cleared to play in Australia

New Zealand were handed a reprieve ahead of the Australian series, with the confirmed fitness of Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme. The duo was earlier in a race against time to regain fitness with Boult’s influence down under being huge and Grandhomme’s all-rounder prowess gives Kiwi the edge.

New Zealand were handed a major boost ahead of their series against Australia, with both Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme being declared fit. The duo, who were on the injured list have now recovered right in time ahead of the Australian Test series. While Boult suffered a side strain, Grandhomme had an abdominal tear during the England series.

"I don't know if I'm really confident, but I'm quietly optimistic they're tracking where we want them to be," New Zealand coach Gary Stead said earlier this week.

The Kiwis have confirmed that the duo will travel to Perth on Saturday along with the squad ahead of the Pink-ball game against Australia.

"Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme are both making good progress with their injuries and successfully trained today at Bay Oval. The pair will travel with the team to Perth tomorrow," NZC posted on Twitter.

However, it still remains a question if the duo would be feature in the playing XI in the Perth opener despite the encouraging progress. Boult’s form with the pink-ball has been excellent, with the left-hander picking up 16 wickets in just two games. On the other hand, Grandhomme provides the edge for the Kiwi side, who averages nearly 40.33 a Test alongside providing breakthroughs with the ball.
