Bangladesh Cricket Board have allowed their star pacer Mustafizur to register himself in the IPL Auctions ahead of the 2020 edition of the tournament. Last year in July, the board had the pacer banned from taking part in any T20 league, following his injury concerns in every tournament he played.

BCB have allowed their left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman to be part of the IPL Auctions, that starts on the 19th of December. This comes after Mustafizur was stopped from playing in the T20 leagues, following his long-standing injury issues in the tournaments in July last year.

However, this time around BCB are confident of managing the left-armer's workload, if he is picked by a franchise in the upcoming Auction. Six Bangladeshi players have already registered themselves for the auction- Tamim Iqbal, Mehidy Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mustafizur, Mahmadullah and Taskin Ahmed.

"At that point, we did not allow him to make him available for franchise-based cricket largely due to his injury. Now he is looking more settled and he is playing for quite some time [without picking up any serious injury]," said BCB’s cricket operation chairman Akram Khan.

Last time, Mustafizur was picked in the IPL, he was injured midway through the tournament, having just played 7 games for the Mumbai Indians.

“If he can manage things properly then there is very little chance of picking up injury. To be honest we are concerned with his form because he is a very important bowler for us. If he gets a chance to play in the IPL and if he can regain his form by playing there then it would be extremely helpful for us,” he added.

His form, too, has been a worry for the selectors as he just picked up a single wicket against India in the T20I series, leaking run at nearly 9.51 an over. The selectors have taken the bold call of allowing the player to regain his form in the IPL, with T20 World Cup round the corner.
