Ajinkya Rahane and Dinesh Mor emerge as the highest run-scorers at the end of Day 1 in their games against Baroda and Uttar Pradesh respectively. Saurashtra's Prerak Mankad's 3/13 reduced Himachal to 120 before Himachal's Vaibhav Arora took 3/20 to put Saurashtra in trouble in the first innings.
While Mumbai and Ajinkya Rahane dominated the proceedings in the game against Baroda, Jayadev Unadkat’s Saurashtra side struggled their way chasing a first-innings total of 120 runs as they collapsed to seven down after putting up 93 runs on the board. On the other hand, neither side got the best of Day 1 as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka shared the spoils as did Railways in their game against Uttar Pradesh.Â
Karnataka and Tamil Nadu share spoil on Day 1:
After opting to bat, Karnataka got off to a bad start, losing opener Dega Nischal in the 4th over of the innings with K Vignesh striking for the hosts. However, a 67-run partnership between Devdutt Padikkal and Mayank Agarwal propelled the tourists to 71 before Agarwal was dismissed. Skipper Karun Nair soon walked back to the dressing room as the tourists slumped to 88/3. Devdutt’s knock of 78 helped the away side get a decent total of 259/6 at the end of Day 1.Â

Prithivi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane steal the headline for Mumbai:
Openers Prithvi Shaw and Jay Gokul Bista got Mumbai off to a flyer after they won the toss and elected to bat as they reached 74 in just ten overs before Abhimanyu Rajput put the brakes. Twin wickets for Rajput reduced Mumbai to 95/2. Shubham Ranjane and Ajinkya Rahane put up a good display of batting before Ranjane was dismissed for 36, as Rahane continued his run. Cameos from Shams Mulani and Shardul Thakur alongside Rahane’s 79 helped Mumbai end on 362/8 on Day 1.Â

Mor's unbeaten 89 puts Railways out of misery:Â
After the early collapse by the Railways top-order to 36/3, Arindam Ghosh and Navneet Virk resurrected the innings with a 50-run partnership before Ghosh fell to Yash Dayal with Railways score reading 87. Further, Virk put on a show with Dinesh Mor as they dug the side out of trouble and helping them reach a respectable score at the end of the day at 244/8. Mor ended unbeaten on 89, as Virk was dismissed for 58 runs.Â

Himachal Pradesh swings the game back in their favour after being dismissed for 120:
The most topsy-turvy game on Day 1, Himachal Pradesh won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the decision to bat first did not go well despite their good start to the innings. After being at 68/2 at one point in the innings, Himachal collapsed to a total of 120 runs with pacer Prerak Mankad picking up 3 wickets conceding just 13 runs in the innings.Â
In the second innings, Saurashtra collapsed to 31/4, including the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara and Sheldon Jackson as Snell Patel emerged as the only shining light in the batting department scoring 42 runs. At the end of the day, Saurashtra were reduced to 93/7, chasing a first-innings total of 120.Â
