KL Rahul said that he always tries to give his best for the team and make the most of the chances that he gets. In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, Rahul has made a case for himself in the playing eleven for the T20 World Cup after a match-winning knock of 91 in the decider against the West Indies.

Not long ago, Kl Rahul was going through a horror-run as India's Test opener and was dropped from the Test squad with question marks being raised on his selection in the limited-overs squad. But the absence of Shikhar Dhawan gave Rahul an entire three-match T20I series versus the West Indies to show what he is made of and he was absolutely fantastic throughout the series, giving India the quickstarts that they so much needed.

He was particularly fantastic in the third T20I versus the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium where he gave a man of the match performance, scoring 91 off just 56 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes. Rahul set up a solid opening stand with Rohit Sharma to provide a launchpad for the likes of Virat Kohli that helped India reach 240, a total that turned out to be more than enough as West Indies fell short by 67 runs.

"Happy that we won the series and every game is important for us leading up to the T20 World Cup. It's obvious that our batting first record hasn't been that great. Today was a great opportunity and very happy that it came off. This will give a lot of confidence and now know what to do batting first," Rahul told in the post-match presentation ceremony, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Rahul has now given the selectors a pleasant headache as whenever Dhawan will return from injury, it will be difficult for them to either leave out Rahul or Rohit. But Rahul is not focusing too much about his place in the playing eleven as he believes in taking one game at a time leading to next year's T20 World Cup Down Under.

"Each game will be important and a learning lesson for us before the World Cup. Like any other format, once you are set, you want to carry on and know what shots to play on," Rahul stated.

"T20 has been kind and I try to do my best and give the results for the team."
