Reports | Bhuvneshwar Kumar to miss Windies ODIs due to injury

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who returned to the Indian team in the T20I series, has suffered another bout of injury and reports have surfaced that he may have to sit outside for the ODI series. With two days to go for the first ODI, there has not been any official announcement from BCCI's side yet.

Just ahead of the South Africa T20s in September, Virat Kohli had said that Bhuvneshwar, along with Jasprit Bumrah, would be the first-choice seam-bowling options at the T20 World Cup next year in Australia. While Bhuvneshwar has always been ahead of Mohammed Shami in the pecking order for the parsimonious bowling that he brings to the table, the latter has grown to be a fine death bowler ever since the 2018 IPL.

Bhuvneshwar's regular influx of injuries, however, made things complicated and a scenario arose where India were ready for the worst-case situation. Now, Mumbai Mirror have reported that the Meerut-born bowler might miss the ODIs with another bout of injury. He complained of pain following the third and final T20I of the three-match series against West Indies.

There has been no official announcement made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), but the sources close to the said publication revealed that given Bhuvneshwar’s growing fitness concerns of late, it would be highly unlikely that the Indian team will take any risks by playing the seamer in the three-match ODI series against the Windies side.
