New Zealand Coach Gary Stead on Monday has confirmed about Martin Guptill's unavailability for the upcoming 3 T20Is against India. Guptill, who was left out from the playing XI against India in the final ODI, continued to suffer from the back Injury he sustained during pre- match practice sessions.

Guptill has failed to live up to the billing in the series so far with an aggregate score of only 47 runs in the four innings and is set to be replaced by his own opening partner Colin Munro who too had his tough bit of luck in this series. In the first three ODIs that Munro got a chance to play, he could only manage to score 8, 31 and 7 and was left out of the team for the fourth ODI in Hamilton. Further injury kept him out of the team for the fifth ODI and now, Stead confirmed about Guptill's unavailability.

Stead was quoted as saying,"Martin hasn't recovered in time for this Twenty20 series which is very condensed with three games over five days. It's a shame as he's obviously a big part of our white-ball sides, but we've got to look at the big picture and ensure he gets the injury right."

Guptill has been replaced by James Neesham for the three-game Twenty20 series, which is scheduled to start in Wellington on Wednesday, February 6th.
