The Kangaroos seem to be going through one of those phases where anything and everything is going their way. After Aaron Finch and Co’s historical series win in India after years, Australia’s Governor General’s XI side saw what could have the freakish dismissal of all time against New Zealand.

Cricket never ceases to amaze us, even after all these years. The incident happened during New Zealand’s match against Governor-General's XI, where the visitors were batting with Katey Martin and Katie Perkins at the crease.

It was the 45th over and New Zealand looked to be pretty comfortable at 3/287 when Aussie pacer Heather Graham was bowling. Graham good length ball saw Perkins getting a good contact as it sprung back towards the non-striker’s end and Martin could just stand there and wait.

The ball came deflected off Martin’s bat, who dropped hit, before running back inside the crease. Meanwhile, the ball went up in the air falling right into the hands of Graham, who had just finished her run-up and hardly had to move from her position. Alex Blackwell, who was speaking to the commentators on the mic, was heard screaming “Oh my goodness”!

Though everyone agreed that they had never seen a dismissal like that ever, the fact is Aussies themselves had been in a similar place 13 odd years back. Playing an ODI against Sri Lanka, Andrew Symonds’ straight drive against Jehan Mubarak had seen Michael Clarke unable to move in time and consequently, Tillakaratne Dilshan had taken an easy catch.

However, while Symonds had shaken off his luck by jokingly telling Clarke, "You owe me a beer!", we don’t quite know how has Martin taken it.
