India’s young sensation Prithvi Shaw has revealed that he is working on his ankle injury and is confident to be fit ahead of the much anticipated Indian Premier League in March. The 19-year-old was retained by Delhi Capitals after he had a decent season scoring 245 runs in nine matches last year.

It was a freak injury for the young Indian opener that he had suffered early in India’s tour of Australia when the Men in Blue were playing a warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI. Shaw was sent home soon with India struggling with Murali Vijay and KL Rahul to make the position their own and it was only after Mayank Agarwal’s arrival that India’s batting got some stability.

It was disastrous times for the youngster who showed a lot of promise after his almost perfect Test debut against Windies where he had scored a brilliant 237 runs in three innings at an average of 118.50. He had even outscored Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane in the series and looked destined to announce his arrival in the tough Australian conditions.

However, Shaw didn’t sound like a broken soul and stated that he has recovered fully in an interview with India TV. "I will be fit before the Indian Premier League and I am trying hard to reach full fitness. I am working on my ankle as well as on my upper body.

“It was an unfortunate incident and you can't really do anything about that. It was my wish to play in the challenging conditions in Australia. I love the bounce there. But unfortunately, I suffered a leg injury. But that's okay, I am very happy that India won the Test series. It can't get better than this," Shaw said talking about India's victory,” he added.

Shaw has finally regained his full fitness and although he wasn’t included in the India A team that would be playing England in a five-match series, he would be competing for a place in IPL and the 2019 World Cup. He has been currently practising at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
