India vs New Zealand | India have been far too good in all three games, reveals Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor has admitted that Virat Kohli & Co have been a more complete team as compared to the hosts in the first three matches of the five-match series after they fell to 3-0 deficit. Taylor, who scored a 106-ball 93 yesterday, added that his side will look to improve in the last two matches.

The Indian cricket team were crowned as winners of the ongoing five-match ODI series against New Zealand after Kane Williamson & Co. were thoroughly outplayed in the third match as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli led the Indians to a seven-wicket win. Ross Taylor was the lone ranger for the home team as he scored a hard-fought 93 off 106 balls as he missed out on a century against the Indians.

Taylor lamented his side’s missed opportunities during the second ODI at the Bay Oval stadium on Monday but admitted that the Indians have been better than the Kiwis in the ongoing series.

“It is tough to swallow the 3-0 loss. But we have to give credit to the Indians. They have been far too good in all the three matches. India put us under pressure for a long period of time and got wickets at crucial times.

“India are a step up in opposition. They won key moments and put us under pressure. We could not just capitalise when we were on a semi-dominant position. We were three-four wickets down and 20 overs to go and long way behind the game. We fought hard but that was not just enough,” Taylor said at the post-match press conference.

Gary Stead’s team recalled the likes of Todd Astle and Jack Neesham or the remaining two games against India as they look to prevent a whitewash on home soil. Taylor added that he is confident his side can bounce back in the One-Dayers left to play.

“There are two more matches to go. Even though the series is gone there is still a lot of pride in the team. Hamilton (venue for fourth match) is a good hunting ground for us as a team. We have to get on to the business and hopefully we can bounce back in the last two matches,” Taylor added.

Taylor went on to praise the two Indian wrist spinners - Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal - who have so far been terrific for the visitors.

“You have to be patient and acknowledge that they are going to bowl good balls. You can catch up later with wickets in hand and wetried to do that today,” Taylor concluded.
