Imran Tahir’s sprint celebration has been his trademark style and often that was one of the reasons why fans switch on the TV. The joy was hard to miss, but yesterday, that same style left him embarrassed as Shadab Khan used the DRS successfully after Tahir had taken a full sprint in the stadium.

There is a joy in watching Imran Tahir play. He is a no-holds-barred bowler and when he picks a wicket, he can even put the great Usain Bolt to shame through his sprint celebration. It was in full flow in the series-deciding ODI against Pakistan yesterday as well, but with a twist in the tale.

In the 40th over of the Pakistan innings, Tahir bowled a straighter delivery to Shadab Khan, which hit his back thigh. In the real-time, it looked like the impact was on the line of the stumps, but the imparted top-spin to it resulted in the ball bouncing over a bit. However, the umpire got confused by that and raised his finger to signal the end of Shadab’s innings.

The decision was enough for Tahir to break into a motion of celebration like the way he always does. However, Shadab wasn’t convinced by the decision and decided to go upstairs where it showed that the ball bounced over and it was over the top of the middle and off stumps. A successful review made Tahir’s celebration a dampener and the host broadcasters to shame as well, who wrote “Review Lost” instead of “Review Retained” on the screen.
